Mūžības vārti - Gates of Eternity Project

Honoring the Stalts Family

The project aims to create a symbolic memorial for the Stalts family, who have dedicated their entire lives to the fight for Latvian and Livonian traditional culture, for the independence of our Latvia and the national self-confidence of their small peoples since the time of the Third Awakening. During Dainis Stalts' political activities, several unique works by sculptor Ģirtis Burvijs were created with his care and direct support, such as a monument to Fricis Brīvzemnieks, a Livonian stone boat on Zaķusala (the former site of the Baltic Sun festival), as well as a dolomite memorial sign in Kolkasrags – “To Those Taken by the Sea.” It is with this last ideological collaboration between Dainis Stalts and sculptor Ģirtis Burvijs that the future Helmī and Dainis Stalts memorial site “Gates of Eternity” will be launched, which is planned to be opened in June 2025.

Preserving Their Legacy

The Gates of Eternity project is dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of the Stalts family, ensuring that their contributions to Latvian and Livonian traditional culture, and the fight for national independence, are immortalized for future generations. It is a testament to their unwavering commitment and sacrifice for the betterment of their small peoples and the broader community.

Join Us in Honoring Their Memory

We invite you to join us in honoring the Stalts family by becoming part of the Gates of Eternity project. Your support will help bring this symbolic memorial to life.

We wish to emphasize the significant contributions of both Helmī and Dainis Stalts. Dainis was not only a collaborator with Ģirts Burvis on numerous unique projects, but also a prominent leader in Latvia’s non-violent resistance movement. Helmī, meanwhile, played a central role as a unifying leader of Livonian and Latvian traditional culture, and led the folk group Skandinieki for many years.

Their strength always came from being together.
